Matthew Stiebel
MD, FRCSC
Sports Medicine
Dr Matthew Stiebel is internationally known for his work on patellofemoral disorders. He was at the forefront of patellofemoral ligament reconstruction when this technique was being developed and has published on Medial Patellofemoral Ligament (MPFL) disorders.
He has presented this innovative research at the International Patellofemoral Research Society and at International Knee Symposiums in Davos, Switzerland. He has also helped design a highly successful patella inlay prosthesis. He continues to do research on cartilage defects in the knee.
Dr. Stiebel was one of the first physicians in North America to use high dose adipose derived SVF to treat arthritis of the knee. Due to FDA restrictions on high doses of stem cells, this clinical research was carried out in a clinic in the Bahamas, with many US patients travelling there to obtain this biologic treatment. Dr. Stiebel currently treats many professional athletes and draws patients from all over the US and from overseas.
Dr Stiebel is a regular instructor teaching other surgeons for the American Arthroscopy Association. He has participated in FDA trials as a primary investigator for novel devices that unload arthritic joints with shock absorbing technologies– and is currently working on a novel device for unloading the arthritic patella.
Additionally, he is known globally for his work on acute and chronic pectoralis major reconstruction. His novel surgeries with allograft weaves have led to hundreds of reconstructions over the past 15 years attracting medical tourism to his practice. He is well known in professional athletics and bodybuilding for this work.
Dr. Stiebel is married and has two children and lives in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Dr. Stiebel will be treating patients in both our Jupiter and West Palm Beach locations.
