Dr. Spencer Barnhill is a fellowship-trained total joint replacement surgeon focusing on primary and complex revision procedures of the hip and knee. He recently completed his fellowship training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital / Harvard Medical School where he had extensive training in muscle sparing direct anterior hip replacements, and use of the latest industry technologies including custom implants, robotic surgery and complex revision procedures. He performs many procedures in the outpatient surgical setting allowing patients an early recovery and enabling them to return home on the same day of surgery.
Dr. Barnhill grew up in Leawood, Kansas where his father is an orthopedic surgeon and his grandfather was a general family physician. Between high school and college, he obtained his private pilot license as well as his instrument pilot rating. He enjoys flying single engine aircrafts as well as helicopters. He went to Miami University in Oxford, OH for undergraduate and then medical school at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. He then completed his surgical residency training at University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital Orthopedics. He completed his final year of training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital / Harvard Medical School.
He has a special interest in caring for patients from all backgrounds and is committed to being a compassionate physician and skilled surgeon. Dr. Barnhill is well published in the field of joint replacement research and has a continued interest in advancing treatment for patients with primary and secondary osteoarthritis. His other hobbies include scuba diving, fishing, golf, soccer and playing guitar.
